Ardingly Reservoir and Balcombe & Bordehill Estate

This is a figure-of-eight walk starting from Ardingly Reservoir, led by Anne from Mid-Sussex Ramblers. The walk comprises of two 5-mile circuits, you can just do the first circuit if you wish or continue after lunch to complete the walk.

About the event

Booking is not required for this walk, please turn up a good 10 minutes before the start time and make yourself known to the walk leader.

From Anne: "We will walk up to the village passing through the South of England Showground and returning alongside the reservoir. After lunch the walk continues through the Balcombe and Bordehill Estates farmland and under the Ouse Valley Viaduct. Some of the route is along the High Weald Landscape Trail. The walk provides some lovely views on a fine day. Ardingly reservoir established in 1979 is popular for watersports, fishing and provides opportunities to bird watch."

Difficulty: Moderate

Obstacles: 12 stiles, 16 gates

Meeting point: Ardingly Reservoir Car Park, Map ref: TQ334287. What3words: https://w3w.co/flaunting.marketing.dabble. Turn off College Lane and follow signs for Prep School and Reservoir. Follow down the hill and then continue passing green gate partially across road to reach car park.

*There is a café at the reservoir but this is not always open. Accompanied children welcome, bring refreshments.
