In Search of Dragons

St Leonards Forest takes its name from a 6th Century French Hermit who once lived in the forest. Legend has it that he famously fought and killed the last dragon in England. Walk along Micks Mills through the forest on which no trees grow after the devil took up Micks challenge and more.

Walk details: This is classed as a Moderate walk, no significant gradients with no stiles and 3 gates.

A mixture of Broad-leaved wooded areas St Leonards Forest takes its name from a 6th Century French Hermit who once lived in the forest. Legend has it that he famously fought and killed the last dragon in England.

Walk along Micks Mills race a course through the forest on which no trees grow after the devil took up Micks challenge that he could outrace anyone. Pass Roosthole Pond a Hammer Pond that provided the power for the hammers used in the iron industry. Admire the 800year old English Oak known as ‘Sun Oak’.
